Under the Faculty of Education, students need to have a place to practice teaching methods and contribute to quality education. From September 2014, UEMI opened primary school program and in September 2015, a secondary school was officially opened as well. This aims at an education reform system, that prepares young generation from rural context to have access to quality education and to be competitive for further education anywhere in the world. The school follows the national curriculum with Kindergarten, Grade One to Six and they sit for National Primary School Examination. High school is 6 years of study before students sit for National Examination (Examen d’Etat) as an entry requirement to college and university studies.
As a private school it has some extra-curriculum courses that students take. It focuses on multi-lingual medium of instruction (French, English and Kiswahili at elementary level). Students also use other local languages and are introduced to local and traditional knowledge. Under this program, the university along with its partner LaOlam Ministry and individuals have initiated a scholarship program whereby orphans, other vulnerable children and girls’ education is fully or partially supported.
